This World Malaria Day MMV joins Swiss Malaria Group in calling for increased commitment to combatting malaria

On World Malaria Day the Swiss Malaria Group, of which MMV is a part, calls for Switzerland and the international community to expand efforts to defeat malaria.

According to Swiss Malaria Group, more than 10 million lives have been saved from malaria over the past two decades thanks to Swiss and international contributions. However, a child still dies from malaria every minute, even if the disease is curable and preventable.

As a hub for non-for-profit and international organizations, a thriving scientific research community and the pharmaceutical industry, Switzerland brings together various actors in the fight against malaria. According to Christian Lengeler, President of Swiss Malaria Group and malaria expert at the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute, “it is thanks to Switzerland’s distinctive combination of actors that it is uniquely placed to expand efforts in fight against malaria.”
