MMV’s CEO Dr David Reddy made a commitment on 23 June at the Kigali Summit, which was held under the auspices of the 2022 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Kigali, Rwanda.

In his statement on behalf of MMV, Dr Reddy committed to working with three African manufacturers to achieve WHO prequalification for their medicines to protect pregnant women and children from malaria, who are the most at risk of the disease. The commitment is part of an initiative to enhance equitable access and supply chain security on the continent.

Further, Dr Reddy concluded “we at MMV strongly endorse the vision of African manufacturers taking their rightful place on the stage of global suppliers, providing quality medicines for all.”

The Kigali Summit was hosted by His Excellency President Paul Kagame of Rwanda and co-convened by The RBM Partnership to End Malaria and Uniting to Combat NTDs alongside the 26^th edition of CHOGM in Kigali, Rwanda. The event convened decision-makers and influencers to discuss and commit to actions that will end malaria and neglected tropical diseases.
