Product development partnerships (PDPs) are dedicated to accelerating the development of and ensuring access to new tools to prevent, diagnose, and treat the diseases of the developing world. The PDPs bring together public and private sector funders, researchers, and product developers in a new model of collaborative R&D. Their success depends on adequate and secure funding and on well-coordinated national and international policies that encourage innovation, facilitate collaboration and technology transfer, and ensure access to new health technologies.
