"Because I want to contribute to developing new drugs to treat malaria and cryptosporidium #IamTropMed"
1. Why did you decide to go into your area of work?
I really wanted to contribute to solutions for infectious diseases of the developing world. MMV is just the place for me to maximize that contribution this year, while I’m on sabbatical.
2. What do you enjoy most about working in your area of research?
Working with people that are devoted to the mission of alleviating suffering in the developing world.
3. What developments are you most excited about in the year ahead?
One is the possibility of a single dose cure for malaria. Another is the number of new malaria drugs entering first-in-man trials. A final one is the possibility of developing new drugs for cryptosporidium, a major cause of fatal childhood diarrhoea in the developing world.
