This month, the Lancet published an article on the problem of fake medicines in Africa. Fake medicines have devastating impacts on patients, denying them genuine treatment for their disease. In the case of a communicable disease like malaria, fake medicines also result in the spread of drug resistance and undermine entire public health initiatives.
