Capacity Building in Côte d'Ivoire

01 Mar 2013

In March 2013 MMV’s Xavier Ding traveled to Côte d’Ivoire. During his seven week mission, he worked with local staff at the Centre Suisse de Recherche Scientifique (CSRS) to set up an MMV-CSRS lab and establish a drug assay platform using P. falciparum field isolates (the parasite taken directly from the blood of a patient). The purpose of this ongoing project is to:

i) Provide an overview of the local resistance profile to marketed compounds

ii) Test MMV’s compounds to evaluate their activity on the field isolates

iii) Contribute to global resistance monitoring efforts by providing data to the World Wide Antimalarial Resistance Network WWARN
