MMV’s 8th Annual Stakeholders’ Meeting

MMV held its 18th Board Meeting, 8th Annual Stakeholders’ Meeting and 3rd Annual Access Symposium in Accra, Ghana from 31 May to 2 June 2008.

This series of meetings was preceded by a Drawing Competition for school children, an event that has become something of an MMV tradition. The event received coverage in the local press.

The Stakeholders’ Meeting was inaugurated by Major Courage E.K. Quashigah (retired), Honourable Minister of Health, Ghana and a keynote speech was given by Joaquim Alberto Chissasno, former President of the Republic of Mozambique and Head, Joaquim Chissano Foundation. This was followed by an award ceremony felicitating the winners of the Project of the Year Award (2007) - Eskitis Institute of Griffith University and the Malaria Drug Innovation Award 2008 - Novartis. 

The Access Symposium was inaugurated with a keynote speech on 1 June 2008 by Dora Akunyili, Director General of Nigeria’s National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control. She spoke on ’Challenges to access to ACTs in Africa: A personal view’.
