Neil McCarthy
Vice President, Head of External Relations
What I do at MMV:
As Vice President, Head of External Relations, I’m responsible for generating income from MMVs existing donor base as well as generating new and innovative sources to support the work of the organization for years to come.
Why I work at MMV:
MMV’s mission has a direct and significant impact on the lives of millions of people, especially children and that is something, having come from UNICEF, which deeply resonates with me. Leading the income generation for this worthwhile and highly effective organisation, makes getting up in the morning easy.
More about me:
Before joining MMV, I spent 12 years working in resource mobilization in the non-profit world. In my most recent role, I was Director of Development and Stakeholder Relations with the World Heart Federation, a Geneva-based NGO working with 200 member organisations in 100 countries. My primary focus was on developing a diverse income stream from pharma and other private sector industries. Prior to this I was the Chief of Section for UNICEF International within the Private Fundraising and Partnerships Division, also based in Geneva, where in 8 years my team generated over $400 million in net income for the organisation.
Before working in the non-profit sector, I led the brand and product development functions within Coca-Cola Europe and a number of other fast moving consumer goods companies. I have a BSc in Engineering Product Design from London’s South Bank University and I’m also a Chartered Designer in product development.
