What I do at MMV:
As CFO, I coordinate MMV’s accounting, reporting, budgeting, financial planning, foreign exchange, treasury, financial risk management, and donor relations.
Why I work at MMV:
Before joining MMV, I worked exclusively for profit-making organizations. What I like about working for MMV, a product development partnership, is that while our internal organization and procedures are quite similar to those applied in private sector organizations, we have a more human mission.
More about me:
I began my career in 1988 as an auditor with Arthur Andersen & Co in Milan. In 1992 I moved to investment banking. I worked for a total of eight years with three investment banks, namely S.G. Warburg (now UBS), Deutsche Bank and Salomon Smith Barney (Citigroup), with a focus on Equity Capital Markets and M&A transactions in Italy. In 2000 I joined one of my investment banking clients, the Geneva-based biotech group Serono, and I started a career as a finance professional in the biopharmaceutical industry.
At Serono I was Vice President of Corporate Finance and Business Development and I played a pivotal role in the $2 billion equity offering and New York Stock Exchange listing, as well as in Investor Relations, Mergers & Acquisitions, and licensing activities. Following the acquisition of Serono by Merck KGaA in 2007 I was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Nitec Pharma AG, a Venture Capital-backed specialty pharmaceutical company headquartered in Basel and then of Endosense, a VC-backed med tech company based in Geneva. In summary, I have more than 25 years of senior financial experience in the biopharmaceutical, med tech, investment banking and accounting sectors.
